Hollow Conductors

Hollow Conductors form a major product line for Extube. From Simple Hollow Shapes to the very complex shpaes in a wide variety of alloys depending on applicaiton can be produced at Extube. The Extrusion process ensures material to of very good conducivity , concentricity and Grain Structure. The size range can be from as small as 2 mm to 120 mm for hollow shapes.

Hollow Conductors

When high magnetic fields are required, the magnetic winding is made from internally cooled hollow sections. While the majority are still looking for square hollow conductor with a round or rectangular cooling channel, the demand for different outer dimensions and hole sizes is growing. We have been manufacturing copper hollow conductors for the most demanding applications.

Our long history in making hollow conductors has given us thousands of tools for creating most sizes of conductors with very short lead times without tooling costs. The sizes start from 3 x 2 mm (< 0.07 kg/m) and continue up to above 100 mm in width (>30 kg/m).

We can also supply conductors in small quantities for testing and for prototype purposes. Also, additional dimensions and custom-made products are made available upon request.

Our Material & Manufacturing Process

Our hollow conductors are made from high-conductivity, oxygen-free copper which is a high purity copper with an electrical conductivity of at least 100% IACS. If higher softening temperatures or creep strengths are required, we recommend the use of silver bearing copper grades.

These copper grades offer high electrical and thermal conductivity and their freedom from oxygen ensures excellent brazeability and weldability, making them superior to wide variety of electrical applications.

The first step of the process is the Billet casting and then Extrusion. The final finished product is obtained by drawing the conductor through a draw die, which is specific for each section and which always uses a mandrel in the bore.

This method ensures fine tolerances and a smooth surface finish both in the bore and on the outside.

A wide range of die types and sizes

Over our long history in hollow conductor production, we have accumulated several thousand dies, and we are able to produce dies of almost any size with an extremely short lead time.

We are able to provide sizes as small as 4 x 4 mm (0.1 kg or heavier per meter) up to larger sizes exceeding 100 mm widths (weighing up to 20 kg per meter). We can also provide small amounts of conductors for prototyping.

INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHT

Custom-built solutions for many different applications

When high magnetic fields are required, the magnetic winding is made from internally cooled hollow sections. While the majority are still looking for square HC with a round or rectangular hole, the demand for different outer dimensions (OD) and hole sizes is growing.

While high energy physics (HEP) magnets are getting bigger, so is the hollow conductor OD and hole sizes. In contrast for the healthcare industry, where turns and teslas are everything, we offer smaller OD and hole sizes.
In addition to traditional shapes, we produce several hollow conductors with non-traditional cross-sections as well. We have been manufacturing copper hollow conductors to the most demanding applications and have used our knowledge and experience to help our customers to build particle accelerators, plasma research devices, MRI scanners and ion implantation units that are more efficient and less costly.
When excellent heat resistance or creep properties are required, we recommend using silver-containing copper as the main material. This silver-containing copper has a high electric and heat conductivity.

WORLDWIDE DELIVERY

Size & Delivery Method

The standard packaging for all our copper products is a (sandwich-type) wooden box that ranges from 4,000 mm to 6,000 mm in length. In addition, some products can be delivered on loose coils weighing up to 1,800 kg. Additional packaging options are available upon request.

We produce a wide range of copper profile products and our packaging guarantees retention of shape, ensuring that a product’s properties are preserved to the utmost after leaving the factory.

We also offer Sea-freight packaging as standard. Standard sizes are available straight off our warehouse shelves. Our bars come in specially made, standard-compliant, secure packaging.

We can assess individual requirements provided they can be presented technically, and offer them for an extra charge. As an experienced and reliable partner with fully integrated production capabilties, we have long been keeping pace with changes in the market.

CUSTOM COPPER PRODUCTS

Our Quality Process

We use different test techniques, tools and the latest machinery to check the quality standard. We mainly focus on providing the highest quality and provides specified solutions to the industry and home and satisfy our customer need.

At the time of delivery, we are packing these Copper tubes with standard packaging material. Still, before delivery, we are performing various tests for the quality and efficiency of products. If any changes are required, we fix them then deliver them to the desired customer.

We are also providing a smooth and convenient doorstep service to our clients without any damage. At reasonable rates, we are offering suitable and excellent Copper tubes.
